Nomination of candidates
All prize winners are chosen by the foundation’s board of trustees, which makes its decisions independently. The board of trustees welcomes nominations from the general public – an individual, however, cannot nominate themselves. Nominations require a detailed explanatory statement including a description of the accomplishments and publications justifying the individual’s candidature for the Peace Prize.
The members of the Peace Prize foundation’s board of trustees are:
- Stephan Detjen (Deutschlandradio, Berlin)
- Prof. Ulrich Khuon (Deutsches Theater, Berlin)
- Prof. Dr. Karl-Josef Kuschel (Eberhard-Karls-Universität, Tübingen)
- Felicitas von Lovenberg (Frankfurt)
- Prof. Dr. Karl Schlögel (Berlin)
- Janne Teller (New York)
- Matthias Ulmer (Eugen Ulmer Verlag, Stuttgart)
- Thomas Wrensch (Buchhandlung Graff, Braunschweig)
- Heinrich Riethmüller (Osiandersche Buchhandlungen, Tübingen), Chairman of the bord of trustees as President of the German Publishers and Booksellers Association
