The German Publishers and Booksellers Association calls on the public to nominate candidates for the Peace Prize of the German Book Trade, to be awarded on October 18, 2020 in St. Paul’s Church in Frankfurt, Germany. The closing date for nominations is March 1, 2020.
Who can nominate candidates for the Peace Prize?
The nomination process is public. Everyone is welcome to submit nominations for the Peace Prize.
Who can you nominate as a candidate?
According to its statute, the Peace Prize is awarded to “individuals who have contributed to [… peace, humanity and understanding among all peoples and nations of the world] through their exceptional activities, especially in the fields of literature, science and art.”
You may not nominate yourself.
How does one submit a nomination?
Nominations need to be in writing and should indicate the kinds of achievements and publications that make the nominee a worthy candidate for the Peace Prize.

What happens to the nominations?
After the closing date of nominations, the foundation’s board of trustees will begin their consultations and elect the laureate from the nominations submitted.
The laureate of this year’s Peace Prize is expected to be announced in June 2020.
