The German Publishers and Booksellers Association calls for nomination for the Peace Prize, which will be awarded on October 15th 2017 in the Church of St. Paul (Paulskirche) in Frankfurt. Deadline: 1st of March.
According to the statute of the Peace Prize, individuals are wanted “who have contributed to the ideals of peace, humanity and understanding among all peoples and nations of the world through their exceptional activities, especially in the fields of literature, science and art”.
The board of trustees welcomes nominations from the general public. An individual, however, cannot nominate himself. The foundation’s board of trustees resumes the discussions on this year’s awarding of the Peace Prize in April. The members of the independent jury, who chooses the (Prize) laureate, are: Stephan Detjen (Deutschlandradio, Berlin), Prof. Dr. Karl-Josef Kuschel (Eberhard-Karls-Universität, Tübingen), Felicitas von Lovenberg (Frankfurt), Prof. Dr. Ethel Matala de Mazza (Berlin), Janne Teller (New York), Matthias Ulmer (Eugen Ulmer Verlag, Stuttgart), Stefan Könemann (Barsortiment Könemann, Hagen) and Heinrich Riethmüller (Osiandersche Buchhandlungen, Tübingen), Chairman of the bord of trustees as President of the German Publishers and Booksellers Association.
The foundation’s board of trustees accepts nominations until the 1st of March 2017; self-nominations are not allowed. Nominations require a comprehensive written explanatory statement including a description of accomplishments and publications justifying an individual’s candidature for the Peace Prize.
